FTIR
Rapid functional group identification with library match.
Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy is the fastest identification technique. 30 seconds per spectrum that we instantly compare with a 50 000+ compound library. Ideal for raw material incoming inspection and identity verification.
What we measure
- Raw material identity (ID test per Ph. Eur. 2.2.24)
- Batch-to-batch comparison (fingerprinting)
- Polymorph and crystal form analysis
- Water detection (≈ 3400 cm⁻¹) and hydrates
- Functional group monitoring (C=O, OH, NH, CN, ...)
- Packaging and contact material studies
- ATR for samples without prep (coatings, films, gels)
Minimum: 10 mg. For ATR — contact with diamond crystal (≥ 50 µm coverage). Powders analyzed directly (ATR) or mixed with KBr (transmission).

Will FTIR replace HPLC for assay?
Not for complex mixtures. FTIR excels at identifying a single component and semi-quantitative control, but for accurate assay (< 2 % error) we always recommend HPLC or qNMR.

How do you detect adulterated raw materials via FTIR?
Compare spectrum with reference batch-test. Correlation < 98 % or new bands appearing → we flag as 'possible adulteration' and recommend extended analysis (HPLC / GC-MS).
